ABOUT

Hosted by the Faculty of Modern Languages, University of Warsaw, the Congress embraces the studies of all aspects of Humanities – Society – Identity, such as literature, language, linguistics, culture, social research, migration, minorities,  or memory studies.
The Congress will take place from Wednesday, December 7, to Friday, December 9, 2022 in the new building of the Faculty of Modern Languages, Dobra Street 55, Warsaw, Poland.
Accompanying event: an exhibition of pictures submitted for the student photography competition FOCUS ON.

 

THE IDEA

The 1st International Humanities – Society – Identity Congress will gather both eminent experts and young researchers who wish to share their knowledge and showcase their innovative and/or interdisciplinary research. The Congress will be a wide-ranging event intended to become a platform for the exchange of knowledge and cooperation of research groups.

 

PROGRAMME
The programme of the Congress reflects its three main themes:

 

 


Each day will begin with a plenary lecture followed by two general sessions devoted to the main themes of the Congress.

 

Additionally, there will be special networking sessions coordinated by Research Groups affiliated to the Faculty of Modern Languages, and offering an overview of new trends in cultural and linguistic research, in non-anthropocentric approaches, visual communication, manuscript studies, digital humanities, ethnography of communication, etc.

 

Young researchers will have Speed-Dating sessions: “The Voice of the Next Generation” in a virtual venue. There will also be  evening  debates on the themes of Artificial Intelligence, Migrations and the Non-Anthropocentric Perspective.

 

The Congress will be accompanied by an exhibition of photos submitted by BA, MA and PhD students for the FOCUS ON competition and featuring their take on the three main themes of the Congress.

The Faculty of Modern Languages is one of the leading faculties. Our academics specialize in a wide range of research areas such as  languages and literatures, identity, memory studies, comparative studies, and social trends.

FORMAT

The Congress will offer traditional in-person sessions. The Speed-Dating sessions for young researchers will be organized online on a special platform. Both sessions and debates will be streamed on the YouTube channel of the Faculty.

 

LANGUAGES

The main sessions and debates will be held in English. The language(s) of the sessions coordinated by Research Groups are subject to negotiation with the organizers.

 

SUBMISSIONS

The deadline for the proposals for 20-minute papers is 30 September 2022.

 

Abstracts should not exceed 300 words (exclusive of references) and should clearly state research questions, approach, method, data and results. Abstracts should also list three to five keywords.

The proposal for 10-minute presentation (not exceeding 150 words) should contain a description of your research
area and the expectations concerning your potential research partners.
