COMMUNIKITE: COMMUNICATIVE Needs in a First-aid KIT for humanitarian EMERGENCY situations

Objectives: The main objective of COMMUNIKITE is to provide communicative first aid materials for humanitarian emergency situations, with attention to the current Ukrainian situation, but also to other circumstances in which these resources for basic communication are necessary and as a first contact of linguistic immersion in the new language. A guide will also be created to address the use of these tools by mediators in these conflicts: volunteers, institutional and non-governmental organisations, etc.
Implementation: Three types of activities are proposed linked to the two products. The first is the creation of resources for elementary communication and first immersion, grouped on a common website and aimed at people who do not know the language of the host community (pictographic glossaries, phonetic immersion, multilingual vademecum, among others). Subsidiarily, a guide for the use of the materials developed will be produced and 2 training activities linked to the development phases will be implemented.
Results: The two products respond to a need detected in times of humanitarian emergency: materials will be available to meet a wide range of needs at a critical moment in the integration of refugees and immigrants who have no knowledge of the language spoken in the host community. It is a kind of first aid communication kit, which can also be used by people working in the field with these groups, even in other situations and conflicts than the current ones.
